WE’RE
DOING
THE
MEDIA
THING

We’ve (officially) been in the media “game” since the mid-2000s. We’ve been through the ups and the downs – 2008 you didn’t best us! But through all of the ups and downs of life and media, we’ve grown, evolved, embraced and cursed technology… and we’ve come out right here: loving who we are and what we do.

Main Street Media Group (and all of its subsidiaries) was created and has grown out of a deepseated love of being curious, the need to learn, the inate desire to create and to connect. We just can’t help ourselves! That said, Main Street Media Group is a multi-pronged and faceted media corporation and our various tenticles enable us to create, produce, promote, engage, and connect. All things that we love.

We are curious. We love words, written and spoken. We like nothing more than connecting people and communities. We get off on creating. The Main Street Media Group tenticles allow us to combine all of these things – and more – and we have incredible fun while doing it. It’s the dream, right?

With our interests, passion, and curiosity, we create content through a monthly printed magazine, an ever-changing website, book publishing, a weekly podcast, creating and producing events, as well as through design, marketing and PR – and of course more.

If you’d like to learn more about any one of our tenticles, please click on its respective page above or in the dropdown menu. If you’d like to learn more about Main Street Media Group, give us a shout here below and send us a message.

MEET
THE
WHOLE
TEAM

The Main Street Media Group team isn’t overtly large – we’re small and nimble! But we’re knowledgeable, feisty, and we love what we do. We’re passionate about words both written and spoken, and we love to engage and bring people together, and above all we’re curious and eager to learn.

The team consists of Main Street Media Group’s President and CEO, Thorunn Kristjansdottir. Thorunn originally hails from Iceland and brings her Scandinavian methodology and approach to each task. Thorunn holds both a BA in History and a BFA in Graphic Design with Magna Cum Laude Honors, and is in the process of finishing a Masters Degree in Marketing. Six months after receiving her Bachelors Degrees she founded her design and marketing firm, Thorunn Designs, and hasn’t looked back since. Since then she’s founded and run over four publications, as well as created and run this whole Main Street Media Group enterprise with all of its tenticles. She has also spent close to 20 years helping her clients with branding, design, marketing and PR needs to help grow their businesses.

Griffin Cooper is our in-house community engagement maverick. He is also a wordsmith, using his background in writing to assist our clients with their promotional language, as well as social media engagement, and he is part of the secret sauce behind our events. Griffin holds a BA in English with Magna Cum Laude Honors. He keeps busy by crafting articles for our monthly magazine as well as our website; helping to create, promote and sponsor events; and if that didn’t keep him busy enough, he hones his wordsmith tools by writing poetry and books, which we proudly publish through the Main Street Publishing Group.

Mary B. O’Neill, Ph.D. helps to keep our entire team grounded thanks in large part to her humour, pragmatism, outlook on life and experience. She tries to see the humorous and philosophical in the subject at hand – and she brings that to her work for both articles in the monthly magazine as well as to the Moxie podcast that she co-hosts with Thorunn. Mary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and has a Doctorate in Philosophy.

Ashley Kristjansson is the face of the Main Street conglomerate in many ways. She has been working with Thorunn since inception and has helped to grow all of the Main Street tenticles when it comes to our customer service. Ashley helps every team member where necessary, but her official role is that of being the director of advertising. She supports our clients, advertisers and sponsors with all of their needs – promotional, logistical, financial and otherwise. Ashley is the friendly voice on the other side of the phone, and the cheery face that greets everyone.
